Farner, Charles Lesley, age 86, of Maryville, was called home Wednesday Dec 16 2009. Charles and Juanita were married upon his return from WW II. During his service, he was awarded citations for “Rhineland�? and “Central European�? campaigns and the “American Theater�? Ribbon and the “European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign�? ribbon. He was retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 year club. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church for 53 years and served as a deacon. Preceded in death by parents John and Laura Farner, brothers Carl W. and Johnny B. Farner, sisters Onibee Ledford, Louise Cheatem, and Vedie Dockery. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Juanita Spurling Farner, sons and daughters-in-law Almerine “Al�? and Martha Farner, and Myron and Brenda Farner, both of Maryville. Grand children Jennifer Farner Baker and husband Jeff of Dallas TX. Travis and wife Beth Farner, and Nathan Farner of Maryville. Great grand children Hamilton, Wilson and Alban Baker. Sisters Mary Hamby of Tellico and Mildred Bates of Relience, brothers R.L. and wife Irene and Paul and wife Joann of Dalton GA, Fred and wife Ivadell of Maryville, sister-in-law Lila Farner of Maryville. Many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the kind staff of 2 North at Blount Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends at Smith Trinity Chapel, Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral immediately following with Rev. Brooky Gray and Rev. Ernest Condee officiating. Family and friends will assemble for the interment at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
