Charles R. “Snook�? Chambers, age 94, of Alcoa passed away on November 15, 2010, at Colonial Hills Nursing Facility after a brief illness. He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the South Pacific, a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, and was retired from the Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, and Atlanta Federal Penitentiary. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marie Acuff Chambers. Survivors include: Daughter and Son-in-law, Anna Marie and Billy Goodwin of Cary, North Carolina, Grandson, Russell Charles Goodwin of Raleigh, North Carolina, Sister, Betty Ashe of Maryville and many Nieces and Nephews who adored him for the love and adoration he gave. Special thanks to his care-giver, Leigh Cunningham of Maryville, his special friends at Gracie’s Restaurant, and his wonderful neighbors. A Celebration of Charles’ Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010, in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Dr. Jerry Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
