A gentle end has come to the end of the life of someone that was deeply loved. It is with with great sadness that the family of Charles Glenn Allen announces his passing following a brief illness on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at the home of his daughter, Terry. Charles will lovingly be remembered by his children: Patricia Diane Bryant (Beck), Terry Glenn Byrge (Rocky) and Charles Glenn Allen Jr. (Glenda). Charles will be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Winston and Gladys Allen; brother, G.C. Allen, brother, Wendell Allen; daughter, Teresa Allen Givens and first love and mother of his children, Phylis Brooks Allen. 

 

Charles was a graduate of Alcoa High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 21 years of active duty. Following retirement from the Air Force, Charles was employed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory until retiring from there with twenty years of service.

 

Charles loved spending time outdoors golfing, fishing and gardening as a young man, while later in life Charles enjoyed spending time at the family fish camp in Decatur, Tennessee. Throughout his life, Charles was an avid reader, especially enjoying westerns and crime fiction.

 

Family and friends will assemble at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2023 for a Graveside Service and Interment with military honors at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating.
