Cecil Byron Howard MD

Cecil Byron Howard M.D., born April 16, 1927, in Wallins Creek, KY, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Dr. Howard was a pediatrician in Maryville for 50 years and retired in 2006. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church, Maryville, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and pianist. He was on the committee that initiated the first car seat law in the country. Preceded in death by: wife, Rebekah Buckley Howard; parents, William P.K. Howard and Maggie Cawood Howard; brothers, Bernard Howard and William Howard; sister, mary Evelyn Carter. Survivors include: son, Mark B. Howard (Brenda); daughters, Sally Howard Truxal (Bill) and Maggie Howard Ray (Terry); Granddaughters, Ashley Howard Rojas (Manuel), Rachel Howard King (Ben), Holly Howard Shaw, Micalah Ray, Abby Truxal, Elly Truxal, Emma Ray, and Jade Howard; grandson, Byron Ray; great-granddaughters, Cecily & Evelyn Rojas; Great-Grandson, Marcus Rojas; and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, April 19, 2019 at First Christian Church in Maryville with service to follow at 7:00 PM with Gary Henline officiating.
