Cecil Ray Hatcher, age 88, resident of Asbury Place, Maryville passed away on July 27, 2019 at Asbury Place. Cecil was born on Feb. 5, 1931 in Maryville, Tenn. He was the son of Luther and Beulah Hatcher who preceded him in death. He was married for 64 years to Tilda Phillips. He was a true Blount County servant having served as a soldier, Civitan member, and fireman. Cecil served in the Korean War and then returned to be a volunteer fireman and then full time. Having been the 2nd full time employee of Blount County Fire Department, Cecil rose to the rank of Captain and served the citizens of Blount County for over 50 years. He also was active in the Civitan club for some time. He was a true friend to all and treated everyone like family. And was a Mr fix it for many people. Wood working was a pastime hobby of his since he made pieces of furniture for family and friends. But I feel that all were made at no charge. He is survived by his wife Tilda Hatcher.
