Carolyn Jane Bain

Carolyn (Carol) J. Bain, age 61, entered heaven's gates on October 8, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at home in Friendsville, Tennessee. She was a member of East Maryville Baptist Church. Carol was head-cook at John Sevier Elementary School, where she worked for 29 years. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Walter Bain, her children, daughter Tennie and son-in-law Charlie, son Marty Bain of Friendsville. Known as "Nanny", she leaves behind her very special grandchildren, Kayla Gurley, Katlyn French, Joseph French and great-grandson Sawyer Mason Adams of Friendsville, TN. Sisters, Mary Slater of Illinois and Barb Thomas of Friendsville; brothers Tom Raines of Maryville, Buck Raines of Maryville, Larry Raines of Knoxville, very close friend Ramie Browning; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers from John Sevier Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her daughter Heather Nicole Bain; parents, Rufus and Iva Mae Raines; grandparents, John T. and Matilda Raines; and brother, Carl Leonard Raines. She devoted most of her time loving and tending to her family she loved so dearly. She loved God, her family, to cook country home-style and bake cakes and pies as fast as family and friends requested them. She will be truly missed by her family and friends that knew her. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 11, at Smith's West Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Greenback.
