Carol Earnest Stambaugh

Carol Earnest Stambaugh of Farragut, TN passed away on January 24, 2023 at the age of 76 at the family home.  Carol was born in Greeneville, TN February 8, 1946.  Carol grew up in Blount Hills and Overlook in Maryville attending Eagleton Grade School and Everett High School.  She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, joining and being baptized at an early age.  After graduating from Everett High School in 1964, she attended East Tennessee State University, and then worked for Blount National Bank in Maryville. Carol married the love of her life James (Jim) Stambaugh on June 25, 1966 at Broadway Baptist Church in Maryville.  They lived in Johnson City, TN where Jim attended East Tennessee State University.  She worked at Pharmaseal until Jim graduated.  Carol and Jim then moved from Johnson City, TN to Fort Worth, TX in 1968 where Doug was born.  They then moved to Winston Salem, NC in 1970, where Katie and Bonnie were born. They moved to Farragut in 1976 settling in Village Green, and Carol joined First Baptist Church, Concord.  Carol taught the 3^rd grade Sunday School class for 26 years (1987-2013).  Carol has been a member of “Faithful Followers” Sunday School class since 2013.  She was also a member of Village Green Garden Club from 2009-2018.  She worked as a receptionist from 1989 to 1995 for Dr. Robert Montgomery first and then for Medical Associates. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, John I. Earnest Jr. and Louise Spears Earnest; and brother John Earnest III.  Carol is survived by her husband, Jim of 56 years of marriage; 3 children, Doug Stambaugh (Amy) of Knoxville, TN., Katie Hamby (Derik) of Madison Heights, VA, and Bonnie Coffey (fiancé Chris Kirby) of Loudon, TN.; Grandchildren, Noah and Natalie Stambaugh, Rachel and Will Hamby, Sydney, Kate, and Reese Coffey; Step-grandchildren, Tucker, Kayla Beth, and Baylee Jenes; Sister, Mary Lynn Northcutt (Glenn).  In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Samaritan’s Purse (Shoe Box Fund), P.O. Box 3000, Boone NC 28607. Family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:00 PM Monday, January 30, 2023 at First Baptist Church Concord, 11704 Kingston Pike, Farragut TN.  The Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Steve Peek officiating.  Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM for Interment Tuesday, January 31, 2022 at Grandview Cemetery, 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN.
