Carl Preston Stinnett age 80 of Friendsville, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at his home. He was a member of Maryville First Church of Nazarene and proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired after 38 years of service with South Central Bell. Carl was a member of the Blount County Republican Executive Committee and a faithful volunteer with Blount County Food Connection. He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. & Alverda Stinnett; stepmother, Beulah Jackson Stinnett; brothers, Lloyd & Jack Patton Stinnett; stepbrothers, Robert, Jack & Dan Jackson; great-grandsons, Rylan & William; special friend, Kirk McDaniel. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joyce M. Stinnett; daughters & sons-in-law, Karen & Kenny Thompson, Carla & Jeff Collins; son & daughter-in-law, Rev. Gary & Rhonda Stinnett; honorary son, Rex A. Hall; grandchildren, Elizabeth Reed, Richard & Sabrina Eggers, Leslie & Jeremy Hammer, Haley, Tyler & Hannah Stinnett, Melanie Roark, Victoria Collins, Jessica Thompson; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Katelyn & soon-to-be Baby Hammer, Clair & Kara Thompson and soon-to-be Mylah Eggers; brothers & sisters-in-law, Walter & Ruth Stinnett, Cecil (Buddy) & Sharon Stinnett; sister, Mary Stinnett Robbins; many special in-laws; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, July 15, 2011 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral Service at 7:00 pm with Rev. Gary Stinnett, Rev. David Moore & Rev. Ray Couey officiating. The family & friends will assemble at 10:00 am Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Middlesettlements Cemetery for the interment with military honors.
