Carl David Guider (05.04.1955~05.08.2023), at home with his family, laid down the mortal body that betrayed him due to Parkinson's disease. He has now put on his new immortal body and is worshiping at the feet of his beloved Savior.
Carl was a 1973 graduate of Friendsville High School and an electrician by trade. He was a lifelong member of Unitia Free Saints Holiness Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, song leader, groundskeeper, and camp meeting facilitator. He enjoyed music (especially classic rock and gospel) and was an avid outdoorsman. Carl’s favorite adages were “Nothing is free.” and “Jesus paid it all.”
Carl was a member of Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union Board for over thirty years, serving as Chair and sitting on various committees. He supported his family for thirty-seven years at ALCOA INC/ARCONIC and retired in 2015.
He cherished his family, including his parents, the late Ralph and Barbara Jean (Humphrey) Guider, and was a devoted son, brother, and father. He shared life’s adventures with his best friend and high school sweetheart Cheryl Lambert Guider during their nearly forty-six-year marriage. She is celebrating his life and their love with his beloved children, Abby Thomas (Sam) & Drew Guider (Leslie). Carl was “Poppa” to his four grandchildren: Dallas and Thad Thomas and Caleb and Hannah Guider.
He is survived by his brothers, John (Sheila) Guider and Troy Guider; stepmother, Pat Guider; nephew, Jeremy; and niece, Jodi and their families; uncle, Jimmy Guider; aunts, Edith Lynn, Phyllis Masingo and Mary Jo (Dickie) Woods; cousins; sister-in-law, Jan Lambert; brothers-in-law, Mike (Lisa) Lambert and Sam (Carol) Lambert and a beloved church family.
Heartfelt thanks to Troy, Abby and Sam, without whose help Carl could not have remained at home and also to Mike and Nikki for always being ready to help at a moment’s notice.
Thank you to UT Hospice, especially Nurse Carissa and Chaplain Charles, and each of the other nurses and support staff who cared for Carl, and his home care assistant Leslie.
Thank you to the many dear souls who ministered to him these past years by praying, visiting, and bringing food, especially chocolate treats.
Our hearts are heavy, but also happy that Carl has obtained the prize of life eternal through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sing on, God’s children, sing on!
