Bonnie M. Sunstein, age 79, of Maryville, Tennessee passed away on October 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving husband.
Beloved wife of 45 years to Philip Sunstein. She was the cherished mother of the late Tommy Collins and James Daniels and was predeceased by her parents, Ira and Helen Mayes, and her parents-in-law, Reuben and Clara Sunstein. Bonnie’s family was her pride and joy, and she was deeply dedicated to those she held dear.
Bonnie is remembered fondly by her surviving children, Bruce (Teresa), Corina (Bob), Terry, Lawrence (Sarah), and James (Karen), along with her beloved grandchildren: Heidi (Janelle), Johnny, Shawn (Cassie), Wendy, Laura, Tiffany (Bryan), Neil, Sylvia (Matt), Krystal (Chase), Rachel (Eliseo), Chris (Justice), Stephanie (Angel), Sam (Jimmy), Stevie, Lawrence “LJ,” Tyler, and Macey. Her legacy continues through her many great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
In her later years, Bonnie became known as “Grandma” to nearly everyone who crossed her path, extending her warmth and kindness to neighbors, friends, and even her loyal “fur babies”—Multey, Tabitha, Princess, Chico, Sky, Buzzy Jr. “BJ” #1 and #2, as well as her adored porch cats. She had a gift for making everyone feel loved, and her presence was a comforting constant in many lives.
A visitation to honor Bonnie’s life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church, 605 Dotson Memorial Rd., Maryville, TN. A service will follow at 6:00 PM, with a reception and fellowship afterward.
A graveside service and burial will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Grandview Cemetery, 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN.
Bonnie’s legacy of kindness, love, and community will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
