Bonnie L. Whitehead Sharp

Bonnie L. Whitehead Sharp age 87 of Maryville passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Blount Memorial Transitional Care. She was born on November 12, 1925 in Hubbard Station to Calvin and Hattie Burchfield Whitehead, descendants of Cades Cove. Bonnie was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved her husband of 71 years and her children unconditionally. They lived in Independence, MO for 37 years and attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Bonnie was a devoted Christian and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was active in K.I.T. Club. Preceded in death by her son, Stan Sharp; brothers, Murphy Whitehead, James Whitehead, and Ronald Whitehead; sisters, Bessie Whitehead Smith and Mae Lee Whitehead Clendenen. Survivors include her husband, Joseph P. Sharp; daughter, Barbara (Dan) Steinke of Michigan City, IN; son, Gregory Kent Sharp of San Antonio, TX; grandsons, Chad Steinke (Jenna Marmy) and Douglas (Caitlin) Steinke all of Chicago, IL; great granddaughter, Madeline Steinke also of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Betty Whitehead; many nieces and nephews in Maryville and Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Greg Long officiating. Interment will follow at Baker's Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3736 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37804 in memory of Bonnie.
