Bobby Joe Miller age 64 passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the family home surrounded by family. Bob never met a stranger, was a friend to all and always had a smile on his face. He spent many years working and following the Miller Racing Team with his brother and nephews. After retiring from Schlegel/BTR, he enjoyed spending summers at Sundown Resort in Townsend, TN where he and Benny were very active in the church ministry at Sundown. Preceded in death by his parents, W. C. "Big Chew" and Georgia Miller; brothers, Jim "Chew" Miller and George Miller; sister, Hazel Miller; nephews, Scott and Mark Miller; parents-in-law, Ben and Nina Griffin; brothers-in-law, Bill Davis and Joe Cooke; sister-in-law, Brenda Miller. Survived by wife, Benny Griffin Miller; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Chad Cole; grandsons, Conner Cole and Blake Cole (Feb 2015) Englewood, TN; sisters, Clara Davis, Lida Cooke, Elizabeth (Bill) Morgan, Linda (Frank Beaver) Miller all of Maryville; brothers, Ralph (Martha), Bill (Susan), and Charlie (Pat) Miller all of Maryville and Henry (Faye) Miller of Hampshire, TN; sisters-in-law, Linda (Marvin) Nichols, Maryville, Saundra (Ed) Rupp of Lenoir City; brother-in-law, Johnny (Vickie) Griffin, Newton, NC; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in the Smith Chapel. A private inurnment will be held at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church Cemetery in Townsend, TN. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
