Bill Gene McClanahan

March 22, 1937 — December 21, 2013

Bill G. McClanahan age 76 of Walland, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of West Miller's Cove Primitive Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa with over 30 years of service and was a Veteran of the United States Army. Bill was an avid hunter and loved spending time up at his cabin in the mountains. He was extraordinary in his leadership role to his family and always took charge and worked out any crisis that arose. God was his first love and he was determined to be an influence to his nieces and nephews teaching them the art of love and the rules of safe hunting and respect for God's great, beautiful creation of the mountains. Bill was a wonderful husband, brother, and uncle and will be deeply missed by those who knew him. Preceded in death by: Parents, Boyd & Zella McClanahan; Brother, Sam McClanahan; Sister, Mary Blair. Survivors include: Wife of 43 years, Marie McClanahan; Brother & Sister-in-law, John & Faye McClanahan; Sister and Brother-in-law, Donna & Ronnie Inman; Sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bundra, Maxine Till, Cynthia Stephens; Special Cousins, James & Maxine McClanahan and Johnny & Nancy Effler; Special friends, Tommy McCampbell, Gleen McCampbell, and Van & Betty Webb; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Dewey Brown officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at West Miller's Cove Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Inman officiating.
