Betty Jean Taylor

May 17, 1939 — June 3, 2017

Betty Jean Woods Taylor, age 78, of Maryville, TN was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 3, 2017 where she was joyfully reunited with her husband of 36 years, Richard Robert Taylor and her parents Raymond and Eva Woods of Wynne, Arkansas. She was born in Harrisburg, Arkansas to sharecropper parents, the baby of four sisters. Betty was a very active member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church where she loved her choir, Sunday School class, WMU and Game night with her church family. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting, embroidery, fishing, gardening, reading her Bible daily and sending cards to family and friends. She was retired from Union Planters bank in Covington, Tennessee and she previously worked for Dr. Don Dismukes of Memphis, Tennessee for many years. Betty was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who adored her family and friends and cherished the times spent with them. She loved to have fun. She is survived by: Son, Keith Taylor of Maryville, TN; Daughter & Son-in-law, DeRhonda and Mike Travis of Maryville, TN; Grandchildren, Andrew Travis of Maryville, TN, Jordan & wife Stacey of Louisville, TN; Great-Grandchildren, Connor and Jack Travis; Sisters, Charlene Williams of Burlison, TN, Ann Jenkins of Olive Branch, MS, and Edith Smart of Redondo Beach, CA along with nieces and nephews Gail Howard, Alvin (Melissa) Williams, Phil (Janet) Jenkins and Jeff Smart. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jim Cummings officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 9, 2017 at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery in Millington, TN.
