Betty Lee Matheis

Betty Matheis, age 95, passed away peacefully at home in Louisville, TN, on July 6, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. Betty was born in Dubois, Indiana, and lived a life full of love and dedication to her family.

Betty's life was a testament to her strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. In addition to caring for her family and pets she also enjoyed cooking and gardening. She will be remembered as being kind and considerate to all and will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Edgar Matheis; son, David Matheis; grandson, Russell Hunt; parents; brothers: Ronald Baer, Johnny Baer, Martin Baer, and Robert Baer: Sisters: Lilly Shipman and Mary Jane Emmitt.

Betty leaves behind her surviving siblings, Sharon Howard and Pat Hussion. Her legacy continues through her surviving children: Son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Matheis; Daughters and son-in-law, Ruth and William Hunt, Marisa Matheis, and Julie Bentz; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Monday, July 15, 2024 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and entombment at 3:00 PM at Grandview Pavilion. Condolences can be given on the Smith Funeral Home website.
