Betty S. Hord

Betty S. Hord, age 82, Alcoa, TN, passed away peacefully Friday, May 8, 2015 at Tennova Hospice Center, Knoxville, following a seven-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, L. Keith Hord; her parents, O.F. and Imogene Shelley; brother, Martin Shelley; son-in-law, Wayne F. Logan; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hicks and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruby and Howard Hord. She was a charter member of Sycamore Tree United Methodist Church in Maryville, Tennessee. God blessed her with many talents. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress with a special love for flower gardening. The extra special flowers in her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Linda Logan and Karen (Steve) Sprouse; grandchildren, Leslie (Leo) Beale, Aaron (Katie) Logan, Ryan (Alicia) Acuff, and Laura Acuff; great grandchildren, Logan Beale, Blake Beale, and Norah Logan; brother-in-law, Alvin (Betty) Hord; sisters-in-law, Vivian Hicks and Charlotte Counts. Family and friends may call at their convenience at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 at Grandview Cemetery, Maryville with the Reverend Jeff Wadley officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be made to Tennova Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville; Alzheimer's of Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville; or Sycamore Tree Methodist Church, 1830 Clydesdale Street, Maryville.
