November 10, 1930 — September 4, 2015

Betty Jo Carter age 84 of Alcoa, journeyed home to her Heavenly Father September 04, 2015 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rogersville, TN, the daughter of the late Floyd & Lola Coffey. Mrs. Carter worked in the healthcare industry before retiring from respiratory care at Blount Memorial Hospital after countless years of service. Mrs. Carter was a faithful Christian and dedicated member of Central Baptist Church of Alcoa and will be remembered most for her kindness and her devotion to her family, friends, and faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wendell C. "Pete" Carter; sister, Bernice Goforth; daughters-in-law, Pamela Long Carter and Gail Reed Carter. Mrs. Carter is survived by: son & daughter-in-law, Arthur H. "Pete" & Kim Carter of Maryville; son & daughter-in-law, David W. & Marcia Carter of Alcoa. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Carter, Candace Carter Hunt & husband Matthew Hunt, and Scott Carter, as well as great-granddaughter, Audrey Brooke Hunt all of Maryville. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM, Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Smith West Chapel with a memorial service to follow, Rev. Greg Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 962 Springbrook Rd, Alcoa, TN 37701.
