Bertha Ellen Hutchinson

Bertha Ellen Hutchinson, age 100, passed away peacefully in Maryville, TN on March 15, 2024. She was born on June 17, 1923 in Johnson County, TN to her parents, Everett and Grace Sluder. She was a very active member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. In addition, she had a special ministry of calling and singing "happy birthday" to the members of the church on their birthday. Many church members have indicated they always anticipate her telephone call.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Bill Hutchinson; and daughter, Judy Harris. Survivors include: sons, Howard (Judy) Hutchinson and Larry (Carolyn) Hutchinson; son-in-law, Jim Harris; grandsons, Dan (Susan) Hutchinson, Rodney (Karen) Hutchinson, Kristi Hood, Frank Hutchinson, Jenny Kelly, Jeff (Kerri) Harris, John (Nicki) Harris, and James (Ginny) Harris. Other survivors include 15 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may come by the funeral from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM, on Friday, March 22, 2024 to pay their respects and sign the register book.  Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2024 at Smith Trinity Chapel.  Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM with Pastor Greg Heisler officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 25, 2024 at Grandview Pavilion.  Special thanks to Linda and Ramona Darnell and Karen Brendle for taking care of her in her home as she requested.
