Barbara Joyce Tipton

Tipton, Barbara Joyce age 79 of Maryville passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She attended Bassell School & Alcoa High School and was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was also a member of Veterans Auxiliary Circles, American Legion Auxiliary Post 13, life member of VFW Post #5754, life member of Purple Heart Auxiliary Unit 1814, and life member of Blount County United Veterans. She rose in rank with the Disabled Veterans for the State of Tennessee serving as State Commander from 1979 - 1980. Preceded in death by: Parents, Elmer & Beulah Hancox; Sisters, Jean Burns and Joan Hancox. Survivors include: Husband of 60 years, James Roy Tipton; Son and Daughter-in-law, Steve & Cindy Tipton of Maryville; Daughter and Son-in-law, Pam & Daniel Webber of Corryton; Grandchildren, Bill Boring Jr. & wife Renee'; Jim Boring, April Webber, Rebecca Hill & husband Bryan, Justin Tipton & wife Amanda, and Jason Godsey; Great-Grandchildren, Tristen Godsey, Nick Boring, Jake Boring, Taylor Sartin, and Thomas Stanton; Brother, Richard Hancox of Maryville; Sisters & Brothers-in-law, Dorothy & John Rosseel and Sandy & Jim Ross all of Maryville; Sisters, Carolyn Barilone of Maryville and Judy Brauninger of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Sunday, March 11, 2007, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary with Dr. Bob Brown and Rev. Greg Long officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 12, 2007 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
