Avis Eloise Pickens, born May 3, 1922 passed away September 6, 2014 at U.T. Medical Center to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Sammie W. Pickens. Others who preceded her in death were her Father and Mother, Ira and Elizabeth Abbott; Sisters, Dorothy Ogle, Beatrice Radford and Brother, Harold Abbott. Brothers-in-law, Clinton Ogle, Eric Radford, and Foute Cable, and Mother and Father-in-law, Andy and Mary Pickens. Survivors include her Daughter, Sammie Gale Myers, who was the pride of her life. Grandson Jeffrey Scott Myers who loved his Grandmother so much. Son-in-law, Charles E. Myers; Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Estelle Cable, Carol and Claude Galyon, and Janice and Tom Greene; Brother, Ronnie Abbott; Sisters-in-law, Mary Abbott and Trish Abbott; If this country had more Mothers, Grandmothers, and Mother-in-laws like Eloise this world would be a much better world to live in. The funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. George Macht officiating. Interment will follow in the Cades Cove Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
