Tony is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat Hagood Vass. Tony was born and raised in South Florida, October 29, 1932. He was an Air Force Veteran and served during the Korean War stationed for 18 months in Benghazi. After his military service he was employed with Southern Bell for 29 years and retired from Lucent in 1985. Tony and his wife Pat visited East Tennessee on their honeymoon and he quickly fell in love with this area. They moved to Maryville in 1997. Two years ago Tony had the privilege of going to Washington, D.C. with HonorAir. It was a memory he treasured. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners Organization. Tony enjoyed meeting with his friends from the "Romeo Breakfast Club" and the many friends he made at the 407 Smoky Flea Market where he would sell his wares on weekends. He was a craftsman woodworker and blessed many with beautiful pieces he made. Tony could restore just about any piece of furniture to its original form and many times, better. If you happened to drive by his home and he was outside, you could always expect a smile and a wave. Tony will be surely missed, but will remain in our hearts always. He was a "mighty fine man". A special Thanks to the wonderful staff on 5 East wing at Blount Memorial and East Tennessee Medical. We appreciate you all.
