Anna Ruth Hale

August 10, 1915 — November 16, 2009

Anna Ruth Gentry Hale, age 94 of Maryville went home to be with the Lord, Monday, November 16, 2009. She was born August 10, 1915 in Washington County, VA the daughter of Elijah Washington Gentry and Sena Roe Gentry. In 1918 the family moved to a farm on Gentry Road near Talbott in Hamblen County, TN. She was married at the First Baptist Church of Morristown on April 10, 1938. Shortly, after moving to Blount County in 1941, she and her husband transferred their church membership from Lebanon Baptist Church of Talbott to Oak Street Baptist Church of Maryville. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Hale, on March 3, 2000; Sisters, Ora Lee Noe, Pearl Harris, Marie Gentry, and infant sister, Minnie Belle Gentry; Brothers, Vance E. Gentry and Elmer W. Gentry. Survivors include: Sons, John Marshall Hale and wife Judy of Alcoa, Harold E. Hale of Maryville, James M. Hale of Douglasville, GA, and Ernest P. Hale of Athens, AL; Grandchildren, Colleen Hale, Patrick B. Hale & wife Cassandra, Shawna N. Hale; Great-Grandchildren, Chelsea S. Sires and husband Robbie, Brooke D. Robertson, Shea E. Robertson, Cassie Marie Wilkerson, Alton G. Wilkerson, and Bennie E. Wilkerson III; Brother, Earl H. Gentry of Talbott; Sister, Ada Templin of Alcoa; Sister-in-law, Virginia Senter of Talbott. Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Brooky Gray and Rev. Ernest Condee officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 3:00 PM, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
