Allan T. Bright peacefully died at home on September 28, 2022 at the age of 97. Allan was born in Loudon County, April 28, 1925 to his parents, Edd and Georgia Bright. He was a resident of Maryville, Tennessee the majority of his adult life. Allan was a devout Christian man that loved his family and his friends. He graduated from Greenback High School in 1940 and Knoxville Business College in 1954 with an accounting degree. Allan worked for 40 years for the City of Maryville, first as a meter reader and retired as the Finance Director and City Recorder in 1988. He was a member of the Tennessee Municipal Finance Association and was also a licensed electrician. Allan loved working in his church, East Maryville Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Ramp Building Ministry building ramps for the handicapped members in the church. He was a leader and deacon in the church and active in the Chilhowee Baptist Association as well as the Gideons International. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and woodworking. Allan was musically talented playing multiple instruments with his friends and family, particularly gospel music and country tunes. He was fond of composing his own songs and creating tapes to share with friends and family. Allan is preceded in death by his parents, Edd B. Bright and Georgia Williams Bright; along with his first wife, Ruth Hammontree Bright; his seven brothers and sisters, step-son-in-law, Roger. He is survived by his present wife, Barbara Proaps Bright; daughter, Patricia Bright Carroll (Stephen Kuester); stepdaughters, Debbi McCown jones (Wayne), Sherrie McCown Lingenfelter (Steve), Denna Ingram McCown; sister-in-law, Jeanne Thompson Bright; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his caregiver, Tish Hardiman that assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations can be made to the Gideons International, Blount County South Camp, P.O.
