Agee Jarvis Guge, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville. Born in Tuskeegee, NC, he lived for many years in Rhymer's Ferry, NC, and Calderwood and Maryville, TN. A 38-year Veteran of Alcoa, he was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a longtime deacon at Calderwood Baptist Church. Known for his hospitality, generous spirit and sense of humor, he was an avid outdoorsman and an award-winning marksman. A lifelong equestrian, he was active for many years in the Smoky Mountain Trail Riders. As a young man, he sang in a Gospel quartet and retained a love of Gospel music throughout his life. Preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler Holden Guge; parents, Jesse Holden and Alcie Guge; brother, Eldred Guge; sister, Pauline Garland; sister-in-law, Evelyn Guge; brother-in-law, Guy Garland. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lillie Mae Guge; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Gail Guge of Upland, CA; son, Rod Guge of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and James "Roe" Boone of Maryville; grandchildren, Stuart and Lee Ann Boone of Nashville and Ashley and Jesse Rhoads of San Francisco, CA; great grandchildren, Lilly Beth Boone, Harrison Boone, and Reese Boone; several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, in Trinity Chapel at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithMaryville.com. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Beecher Whitehead officiating.
