A.E. Gamble, Sr.

ALFRED E. (DICK) GAMBLE, age 84, of Maryville, passed away at University of TN hospital on January 20, 2009. He was a member of Ellejoy Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. PCS 1387. He was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his son, Alfred E. (Al) Gamble, Jr., daughter Katherine E. Gamble, parents Mr. & Mrs. Joseph H. Gamble, sisters Estelle Owenby, Edith Garner, Ruth Sims, brothers, Murrel Gamble, Jack Gamble. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Stapleton Gamble, daughters & sons-in-law: Deborah Ross, Donna Gamble & Darrell Swaggerty, Dolores & Steve Myers, Jennifer & Richard Brown. Grandchildren: Laura Ross, Jason Holder, wife Tanya, Nate Holder, wife Jana, Penelope Giles, Adam Myers, Lydia Myers, Nastausha Jaworski, Cortney Sebring, Joey Sebring, Alex Holley, Jake Holley. Great grandchildren: Josie & Jami Holder, Sara Kate Giles, Aidan & Avery Myers. Sisters & brothers-in-law: June & Jim Roberts, Reba & Archie Duggan, brother sisters-in-law: Jay & Jolene Gamble, Sandy Gamble. Special daughters & son Martha & Jimbo Payne, Nikki Bush, special friend Rick Lease and his beloved little dog, Abby. Many nieces, nephews & cousins and many friends and golfing buddies at Pine Lakes Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 S. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Daddy and his sense of humor will be greatly missed by all. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2009 with Rev. James Lawhorn officiating.
