Ada Florence Swann McMillian

Ada Florence Swann McMillian, age 93, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Cawood Swann and Sarah Lawson Swann; brother, Sam H. Swann and wife Sudie M. Swann; husband, John Millard McMillian. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Albright Stamps and husband, Richard; her grandson, John McMillian Albright; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was born in Blount County and spent most of her life in Blount and Sevier Counties. She graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1943. After college she worked at Oak Ridge until after the war. She then taught school in Blount County. She and John were married in 1946 by Rev. Harold C. Harris. She was a faithful member of Fairview United Methodist Church for many years. She was also very active in the Fairview UMW and Sunday School Class. It was her wish for donations to be made in her memory to the Fairview United Methodist Church Building Fund and Meals On Wheels. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Smith's Trinity Chapel with Rev. Gilbert Harris officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery. Her family wishes to thank all those who have been so very kind and faithful to her over the past several years, including neighbors, church members, caregivers, Hospice, and special friend Ellen Wright, in taking such good care of her until she went to be with her loved ones.
